Rob was born in Nelson Mandela Bay and is a multi-talented South African comedian. He studied Drama at Rhodes University and completed his studies in 1997 graduating with an Honours Degree. He's written, produced and starred in three one-man shows and two two-man shows, as a South African actor he is best known for his role as Twakkie in the SABC2 comedy series The Most Amazing Show. Rob hosted the Crazy Games, which was an SABC2 action-comedy game show, and the host on the SABC2 reality competition SA Got Talent alongside Anele Modada. Appearing in numerous stage productions and received various award nominations for his roles, such as a Fleur Du Cap nomination for Best Supporting Actor in Beauty Queen Of Leenan and a Vita nomination for Best Actor in Birdie.

Having also appeared in many movies including Shark Attack 2, The Bone Snatcher, and Footskating 101 and Crazy Monkey Presents Straight Outta Benoni, and Bunny Chow, and doing a voice over role of Frothy The Bear in URBO: The Adventures of Pax Afrika, an animated TV series.

He has a record-breaking presentation of 13 acts/shows at the Grahamstown National Arts Festival for Stand-up comedy.

 

In 2008, Rob was one of the 10 celebrity contestants in the fifth season of SABC2's Strictly Come Dancing reality competition, where his dance partner/coach Mary Martin and Rob were crowned the winners of Strictly Come Dancing 5.

Rob has also developed a loyal following in the theatre through original work such as Mung, Tangkupa, Bangalore Torpedo, Brother Number, Electric Juju, The Most Amazing Show (which toured nationally and internationally and received a cult like status in South Africa and enjoyed two highly successful and award winning seasons on national television). His most recent theatre project is a collaborative adaptation of The 3 Little Pigs (with James Cairns, Albert Pretorius and Tara Notcutt) as a dark political thriller-comedy which tours nationally and to Perth, New York, Amsterdam, Dublin and London in 2013.
