Who Is Phindi Gule

Phindi Gule is a prominent figure in South African media, with a career spanning radio, corporate roles, and health and wellness advocacy. She began as a newsreader at Metro FM and went on to host shows at Voice of Soweto, YFM, East Coast Radio, and Gagasi FM, as well as managing Score Super Markets’ retail radio station. Academically accomplished in Chemical Engineering, Journalism, and IMM Diplomas, Phindi has also held corporate roles at South African Airways, Autotrader, and Old Mutual.

Her leadership skills shone as Co-Founder and Station Manager of Vuma FM, KZN’s fastest-growing radio station, where she built and mentored a strong team, driving the station to significant success in under two years.

A dedicated athlete, Phindi completed her first Comrades Marathon in 2012, transforming from a “non-runner” to an ultra-marathon finisher in just eight months. She has since completed four Comrades Marathons and co-founded the annual Comrades Women’s Seminars in 2013 to inspire women to embrace fitness challenges. In 2016, she and her husband Kevin Burley became the first to run the full length of KZN—from the Mozambique border to Port Edward, covering 900 km.

Phindi’s contributions to fitness and wellness have earned her multiple ambassadorships with brands like New Balance, 32Gi, and RunAngel, as well as partnerships with major events such as the Totalsports Women’s Race and FNB 10km City Surf Run. She also works as a sports analyst and commentator for SABC and runs Phindi Gule Marketing & Communications (PTY) Ltd with her husband.
