Deshun is a mountaineer and businesswoman who was the first Black South African woman to climb the slops of Mt. Everest in 1996. As a novice climber Deshun was only able to reach Camp 2 at 6,500 metres (21,325 feet) that year, but later returned to Everest in 2003 to try again, but bad weather prevented that attempt as Deshun made her way to the summit and had to turn back, this time only making a mere 500 metres from the top (8,848 metres, 29,028 feet). She holds a Higher Diploma in Education from Rand College and Rand Afrikaans University and spent five years as a school teacher before taking up mountaineering.

Deshun's recent studies -globally- conclude that the 21st Century, Multi-Generational Workforce requires agile workspaces and business cultures. Subsequently Deshun has completed multiple certifications in the training and development space, culminating in an international certificate in business coaching.
